Two-Day Strategic Omnibus Workshop on SDG Inclusion and Mental Peace


The Women University Multan successfully organized a two-day strategic omnibus workshop on SDG Inclusion and Mental Peace, in collaboration with the Young Peace and Development Corps (YPDC) and the Global Youth Movement (GYM). The workshop aimed to promote awareness, intellectual dialogue, and strategic engagement among students and youth regarding the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on inclusivity, emotional well-being, and mental resilience in contemporary society.
The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Asma Akbar, Chairperson, Department of Political Science and International Relations, who served as the focal person. The event brought together distinguished speakers, academic leaders, and youth representatives committed to fostering sustainable, inclusive, and mentally healthy communities.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kalsoom Pracha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her keynote address, she emphasized the critical importance of aligning academic institutions with the broader vision of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing inclusion, well-being, and quality education. She highlighted that mental peace is fundamental to intellectual growth, creativity, and leadership, and universities must play a proactive role in cultivating emotionally resilient and socially responsible individuals. She further stated that empowering youth with awareness, empathy, and strategic thinking is essential for building a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable future. She appreciated the collaborative efforts of YPDC and GYM and commended the Department of Political Science and International Relations for organizing a meaningful and intellectually enriching initiative.
Registrar Dr. Deeba Shahwar, in her address, underscored the significance of such strategic workshops in developing critical thinking, social awareness, and emotional intelligence among students. She remarked that mental peace and inclusivity are essential components of personal and professional success, and institutions must provide platforms where students can engage in constructive dialogue and holistic learning. She appreciated the organizers and guest speakers for their valuable contributions and reaffirmed the university administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote intellectual and personal development.
The workshop featured insightful sessions by distinguished guest speakers, including Ms. Bushra from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), who is also the President of GYM, and Ms. Fareed Ali, an esteemed Mental Peace SDG Promoter.They delivered thought-provoking presentations on the importance of SDG inclusion, youth engagement, mental well-being, and the role of young leaders in promoting peace and sustainable development. Their sessions emphasized the need for emotional awareness, inclusive policies, and community-based initiatives to address modern societal challenges.
The event was further enriched by the presence of executive body members of YPDC from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Government Emerson University, and MNS University, whose participation strengthened inter-institutional collaboration and youth engagement. Their active involvement reflected a shared commitment among academic institutions to advance the agenda of sustainable development, inclusion, and mental wellness.
Throughout the two days, the workshop engaged participants in strategic discussions, interactive sessions, and intellectual exchange, enabling students to develop a deeper understanding of SDGs and the importance of mental peace in achieving sustainable and inclusive societies.
