International Seminar at Women University Multan Emphasizes Parental Responsibility as the Foundation of Empowered Generations

The Department of Islamic Studies and Arabic, The Women University Multan, successfully organized a prestigious One-Day International Seminar at the Katchery Campus on the profoundly significant theme, “جانشینی کا اعتماد والدین کی ذمہ داری، فطری پرورش سے لے کر نئی نسل کو با اختیار بنانے تک” (Succession Trust: Parents’ Responsibility from Natural Upbringing to Empowering the New Generation). The seminar provided an intellectually vibrant and spiritually enriching platform for scholarly dialogue on the essential role of parents in nurturing confident, morally strong, and empowered future generations.
Prof. Dr. Kalsoom Paracha, Vice Chancellor, The Women University Multan, graced the occasion as the Chief Organizer of the seminar, demonstrating her visionary leadership and deep commitment to promoting intellectual discourse grounded in Quranic wisdom and contemporary educational relevance. The seminar featured Dr. Hidayatullah Ahmad Al-Shash, Associate Professor, College of Tafsir and Quranic Sciences, and Dean, College of Educational and Psychological Sciences, Al-Hikmah University, Pennsylvania, USA, as the Eminent International Speaker, while the event was effectively coordinated by the Focal Person, Dr. Makkiah Nabi, Department of Arabic, The Women University Multan. Distinguished scholar Dr. Abdul Razaq Asfaad also honored the seminar with his esteemed presence.
In her address as Chief Organizer, Prof. Dr. Kalsoom Paracha delivered a deeply intellectual, wise, and visionary address, highlighting the sacred responsibility of parents in shaping future generations. She stated,“Parenting in Islam is not merely a biological role, but a sacred trust (amanah) entrusted by Allah. The strength of a nation lies not in its resources, but in the character, confidence, and moral clarity of its children.”She further emphasized that natural upbringing rooted in Islamic values creates individuals who possess intellectual independence and spiritual resilience. She remarked,“When parents nurture their children with wisdom, compassion, and moral discipline, they do not only raise individuals, they shape leaders, reformers, and torchbearers of society.”
Highlighting the importance of empowerment, she said, “Empowering the new generation begins with empowering their minds, strengthening their faith, and nurturing their ability to think, reflect, and lead with integrity. The Quran provides the most comprehensive guidance for developing balanced, confident, and responsible human beings.”
She also underscored the role of academic institutions, stating,“Universities must serve as centers of intellectual awakening and character building, where knowledge transforms into wisdom, and students evolve into visionary leaders who contribute positively to humanity.”
The keynote address by Dr. Hidayatullah Ahmad Al-Shash was profoundly enlightening, scholarly rich, and intellectually transformative. She explained the Quranic concept of succession (khilafah) and emphasized that parents are the first and most influential educators in a child’s life. She stated,“The Quran presents parenting as a conscious and purposeful responsibility. Through balanced nurturing—spiritual, intellectual, and emotional—parents prepare their children to become confident successors and responsible contributors to society.”
She further added that empowering the younger generation requires building their intellectual capacity and moral strength, remarking,
“A strong generation is not created through comfort alone, but through guidance, discipline, intellectual stimulation, and spiritual connection.”
The presence and scholarly engagement of Dr. Abdul Razaq Asfaad added intellectual depth to the seminar, while Dr. Makkiah Nabi, as Focal Person, ensured the successful organization and academic excellence of the event through her dedicated efforts and professional coordination.
The seminar concluded with a powerful collective message that the future strength of society depends upon conscious parenting, intellectual education, and spiritual guidance, and reaffirmed The Women University Multan’s commitment to promoting scholarly excellence, moral leadership, and the empowerment of future generations through meaningful academic initiatives.
