Green Marvels 2.0 Expo Inspires Innovation and Environmental Responsibility at Women University Multan
The Department of Botany, Women University Multan, Matital Campus, successfully organized the inauguration ceremony of Green Marvels 2.0 – Botany Career & Innovation Expo, showcasing the scientific talent, creativity, and environmental awareness of students. The expo was formally inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Women University Multan, Prof. Dr. Kalsoom Pracha, who graced the occasion as chief patron and encouraged students to pursue innovation in botanical sciences.The guests visited WUM Botanical Studio at Department of Botany.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Dr. Kalsoom Pracha delivered a powerful and visionary address, emphasizing the vital role of botany in addressing global environmental challenges. She stated that botanical sciences hold the key to sustainable development, food security, climate resilience, and ecological preservation. She urged students to become innovators, researchers, and environmental ambassadors, highlighting that universities must serve as hubs of creativity, research, and practical learning. She appreciated the Department of Botany for providing students with a dynamic platform to present their ideas and projects, adding that such initiatives prepare young women to lead in scientific and professional fields with confidence and purpose.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Farah Saqib from the Women Chamber of Commerce Multan and Madam Farrukh Mukhtar from APWA Multan, who attended as chief guests and appreciated the innovative efforts of the students. They highlighted the importance of linking academic knowledge with industry and entrepreneurship to empower young women and promote sustainable economic growth.
Chairperson Department of Botany, Dr. Abida Aziz, in her welcome address, expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, honorable guests, judges, faculty, and students for their enthusiastic participation. She stated that Green Marvels 2.0 reflects the department’s commitment to promoting scientific innovation, environmental stewardship, and career readiness among students.
A key highlight of the expo was the impressive display of student projects, where students presented innovative models and research ideas related to plant sciences, environmental sustainability, and green solutions. The projects were evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Dean Faculty of Food Sciences and Technology, BZU Multan; Dr. Saima Nasreen, Chairperson Environmental Sciences, Women University Multan; and Mr. Rana Asif Hayat from Green Agriculture Services Multan, who appreciated the students’ creativity, research skills, and practical approach.
The event was attended by Registrar Dr. Deeba Shahwar, Treasurer Dr. Tahira Younis, faculty members, and a large number of students, reflecting strong institutional support and enthusiasm. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Kalsoom Pracha distributed shields among the honorable guests and certificates among participating students, recognizing their contributions and achievements.
The event also saw active participation from Emerson University, BZU, and distinguished industrial officials, who visited the student project stalls, appreciated their innovation, and encouraged practical application of scientific knowledge.Green Marvels 2.0 proved to be a vibrant and inspiring platform that not only showcased student talent but also reinforced the university’s commitment to academic excellence, environmental responsibility, and women’s empowerment through scientific education.
